HERE COMES PHISH

On Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 10 p.m., Phish will be performing at Crazy Bear. They are a small band that began with a few college students in Kutztown, PA. Cory Foster is the front man of Phish and also plays guitar for the band. Cory has been singing for 14 years. He started in high school in theater class even though he was a metal head, he says. Cory auditioned for “Little Shop of Horrors” on a whim and received a part. From there, he just kept going.

The other member are Ben Blumenthal as the drummer, Tyler Huber as the bass player, and Seth Bortner as the backup vocalist and tambourine player. Each member grew up around music. Tyler says, “My dad played in a band, my mom was always around musicians, music was always instilled in me.” They are inspired by Aerosmith and Steven Tyler, that type of rock ‘n’ roll vibe, and all remember to having an obsession with music since he was young.

Performing on stage at Lollapalooza, Ben says, “It was kind of crazy to be standing on the same stage as people that I idolize.” The night unveiled a big 30-foot banner displaying the band’s name draped across the back of the stage. Ben could not contain his excitement. After seeing the banner, he says, “I could not take enough pictures of it.”
